Young Carers at Eaves – Every Child Matters, Every Carer Counts.
At Eaves Primary School, we recognise that some children have additional responsibilities at home, helping to care for a family member who may have a physical or mental health condition, disability or additional needs. These children are known as Young Carers, and we are committed to ensuring they feel recognised, valued and supported.
We understand that being a Young Carer can bring both rewarding experiences and challenges. Through The Eaves Way, we aim to create a nurturing and inclusive environment where every child feels safe, understood and able to thrive, both academically and emotionally.
Our dedicated Young Carers Lead, Jacqueline Lloyd, is available to offer a listening ear, guidance and support to children and families. She works closely with staff and external agencies to ensure that Young Carers receive the understanding, encouragement and opportunities they deserve.
St Helens Young Carers Support
We work to connect families with the St Helens Young Carers offer, which provides specialist advice, practical support and opportunities for children and young people who have caring responsibilities.
Support may include:
Someone to talk to who understands the experiences of Young Carers.
Opportunities to meet other Young Carers and build friendships.
Activities and experiences that provide a break from caring responsibilities.
Emotional wellbeing support, advice and guidance.
Help for families to access additional services when needed.
How Can We Help?
If your child helps to care for someone at home, even in small ways, they may be a Young Carer. We encourage families to speak to Jacqueline Lloyd, our Young Carers Lead, so that we can explore how best to support your child and connect you with appropriate local services.
At Eaves, we believe that every child deserves the opportunity to enjoy their childhood, feel a sense of belonging and achieve their full potential. No Young Carer should feel that they have to manage their responsibilities alone.
