At Eaves Primary School, we believe that every child deserves to feel valued, celebrated and proud of their achievements. Through The Eaves Way – Excellence in Everything, we nurture a positive and encouraging school culture where kindness, effort, resilience and outstanding attitudes are recognised and celebrated.
Our approach to rewards and recognition is rooted in positive relationships and intrinsic motivation. We want our children to experience the pride and satisfaction that comes from making good choices, overcoming challenges, helping others and knowing that they have made a positive difference.
Going Above and Beyond – Our Positive Points and Star Awards
At Eaves, our four expectations – Be Ready, Be Respectful, Be Resilient and Be Responsible – underpin everything we do. These are the everyday behaviours we encourage and expect from all our children. However, we also believe in celebrating those truly special moments when children go Above and Beyond what is ordinarily expected.
Children can earn Positive Points for demonstrating exceptional kindness, outstanding perseverance, remarkable personal growth, positive leadership, exceptional effort or making a meaningful contribution to our school community.
As children collect Positive Points, they work towards our special Eaves Star Awards:
Bronze Star – 10 Positive Points
Silver Star – 20 Positive Points
Gold Star – 30 Positive Points
Purple Star – 50 Positive Points
These awards recognise sustained commitment to our school values and celebrate children who consistently strive to be the very best version of themselves.
Celebrating Success in Many Ways
Recognition at Eaves goes far beyond points and certificates! We believe that some of the most meaningful rewards are the smiles, encouraging words and moments of genuine pride shared between children, staff and families.
Throughout school, we celebrate achievements through a variety of approaches, including:
Over and Above Assemblies – our special weekly celebrations where children are recognised for exceptional achievements, attitudes and contributions, with families invited to share these proud moments.
Class Recognition Boards – celebrating positive behaviours, teamwork and collective achievements.
Positive Postcards and Messages Home – sharing wonderful moments with families so achievements can be celebrated together.
Class Raffle Tickets – Celebrating positive choices, kindness and effort, with children earning raffle tickets for the exciting chance to choose a special treat from our class Prize Box!
Positive Noticing Tags – Celebrating children who do the right thing, even when nobody is watching! Staff and pupils can recognise acts of kindness and positive choices by awarding a special tag with a personalised message explaining why they were positively noticed.
Praise from Senior Leaders – recognising children who demonstrate something truly exceptional.
Special Recognition and Classroom Celebrations – acknowledging individual successes, personal milestones and outstanding contributions to school life.
