Behaviour Curriculum
The Eaves Way - Our Behaviour Curriculum
At Eaves Primary School, behaviour is taught explicitly and consistently through The Eaves Way. We believe that positive behaviour is learned, practised and reinforced over time, just like any other area of the curriculum. Our behaviour curriculum supports pupils to develop the knowledge, skills and attitudes they need to succeed in school and in life beyond the classroom.
The Eaves Way is built around four clear expectations:
Ready, Respectful, Responsible and Resilient.
Ready
At Eaves, being ready means:
arriving at school and lessons prepared to learn
listening carefully and following instructions
having the correct equipment and using it appropriately
lining up calmly and moving around school sensibly and quietly
focusing on learning and not distracting others
Being ready helps everyone to learn well and make the most of their time in school.
Respectful
At Eaves, being respectful means:
using kind hands and kind words
listening to others and valuing different opinions
using good manners, including “please”, “thank you” and “excuse me”
respecting personal space and understanding consent
recognising that everyone is different and may have different needs
celebrating the successes of others
Being respectful helps us to build positive relationships and a safe, inclusive school community.
Responsible
At Eaves, being responsible means:
taking care of the school environment
looking after equipment and resources
keeping classrooms and shared areas tidy
taking pride in our work and trying our best
following school routines and classroom expectations
making sensible choices and thinking before we speak or act
asking for help when we need support with our learning or behaviour
Being responsible helps us to become independent and reliable learners.
Resilient
At Eaves, being resilient means:
persevering when learning feels challenging
understanding that mistakes are part of learning
managing emotions and behaviour as effectively as we can
asking for help when we are struggling
learning to forgive others and move forward positively
showing aspiration in our learning and behaviour
Being resilient helps us to grow, improve and prepare for the wider world.
Preparing Children for Life Beyond Eaves
Through The Eaves Way, pupils learn that:
people may think differently, and this should be respected
kindness can be shown in many ways
there are times when it is appropriate to step in and help, and times when it is not, and how to do this safely
forgiveness, reflection and self-regulation are important life skills
being the best version of ourselves matters, both in learning and behaviour
This behaviour curriculum is taught explicitly, modelled consistently and reinforced daily by all adults across the school. Through The Eaves Way, pupils develop the habits, attitudes and self-regulation needed to become confident, respectful and responsible members of society.
