Eaves Nursery and Pre-School
Little learners, big adventures, bright futures.
Welcome to the beginning of your child's journey at Eaves Primary School.
We know that choosing a nursery or pre-school is an important decision for every family. At Eaves, we want those first experiences of education to be filled with happiness, friendship, discovery and a genuine love of learning.
Our Nursery and Pre-School provide a warm, caring and stimulating environment where children feel safe, valued and excited to explore the world around them. We recognise that every child is unique, and our experienced Early Years team takes the time to get to know each child, celebrate their achievements and help them grow in confidence and independence.
As part of the wider Eaves family, our youngest children are encouraged to be curious, creative and adventurous, developing the foundations they need for a happy and successful start to school.
From tiny acorns, mighty oak trees grow
Big adventures begin at Eaves!
Where little imaginations grow and a love of learning begins.
At Eaves Nursery and Pre-School, every day is an opportunity to discover something new. Our carefully planned Early Years curriculum combines the excitement of play with purposeful teaching, giving children the knowledge, skills and confidence they need to thrive.
We want our youngest learners to be curious, imaginative and independent. Whether they are discovering a new story, investigating the Woodland Garden, creating a masterpiece or learning to work alongside their friends, every experience helps them grow.
Our little storytellers – Drawing Club
Stories and imagination are a special part of learning at Eaves. Through Drawing Club, children are encouraged to become storytellers, illustrators and creative thinkers.
Using exciting stories, characters and imaginative adventures, children develop their vocabulary, confidence in speaking and listening, creativity and early mark-making skills.
Drawing Club helps children discover that their ideas matter and that they have wonderful stories of their own to tell.
Little Wandle – the beginning of our reading journey.
We believe that a love of reading begins long before children can recognise letters and words.
Through Little Wandle Foundations, our Nursery children enjoy nursery rhymes, songs, stories and listening games. They learn to notice sounds, recognise rhymes, develop their vocabulary and enjoy playing with language.
These important early experiences prepare children for the Little Wandle phonics programme they will follow in Reception, giving them a confident start to becoming readers.
Learning through exploration and play
Our Early Years curriculum is built around the seven areas of learning and development, with exciting opportunities for children to learn through play, exploration and meaningful experiences.
Our Woodland Garden provides opportunities to investigate nature, notice seasonal changes, discover living things and develop curiosity about the world around us.
Inside and outdoors, children develop early mathematical understanding through counting, sorting, patterns, shapes, construction and problem-solving. Creative activities, movement and physical play help children develop coordination, imagination and independence.
Our adults carefully introduce new learning, build on what children already know and provide support and challenge to help every child make progress
Communication, confidence and friendships
Communication and language are at the heart of our curriculum. We make time for conversations, stories, questions, songs and shared experiences that help children find their voice.
Children learn to listen to others, express their ideas, manage their feelings, build friendships and become increasingly independent.
Our school values of Exploration, Authenticity, Vision, Encouragement and Synergy begin right here, helping children develop a sense of belonging and the confidence to try new things.
Strong foundations for Reception and beyond
Our Nursery and Pre-School are part of the wider Eaves Primary School family. Our curriculum is carefully designed to build strong foundations in communication, early literacy, mathematics, personal development and independence.
We work closely with our Reception team to ensure children experience a positive, familiar and well-supported transition into their next stage of learning.
Above all, we want every child to leave our Nursery feeling happy, confident, curious and proud of what they can achieve.
This reflects the priorities on your published curriculum pages, including early language, executive function, mathematics, early literacy, play-based learning and the progression from Nursery into Reception.
Nursery, Pre-School and Wraparound Care
At Eaves, we understand how important it is for families to find childcare that meets their needs. We offer a range of options to provide flexibility while ensuring children enjoy a happy, nurturing and stimulating environment.
Our maintained Nursery operates during the morning session, with applications for these places managed through the school's admissions process.
We also offer afternoon Pre-School provision and wraparound care, including breakfast and after-school clubs, helping families access additional childcare throughout the day.
Eligible families can access funded childcare, including the 30-hour entitlement, subject to availability and eligibility criteria.
Children attending over lunchtime also have the option of enjoying a hot school meal.
