Assemblies at Eaves

Assemblies are a highly valued part of life at Eaves Primary School and play an important role in nurturing the whole child. They provide opportunities for our children to come together as a school community to reflect, celebrate achievements, develop understanding and strengthen the values that underpin everything we do. Through our assemblies, we promote our commitment to Excellence in Everything, encouraging every child to aspire to be the very best version of themselves academically, socially and personally. Assemblies also reinforce our school expectations to Be Ready, Be Resilient, Be Resourceful and Be Respectful, helping children to develop confidence, empathy, responsibility and pride in themselves and their community.

Monday – No Outsiders Assembly

Our week begins with our No Outsiders assembly. No Outsiders is a programme that promotes inclusion, equality and respect for all people, regardless of differences such as race, religion, gender, ability or family background. Through carefully chosen texts, discussion and reflection, children learn the importance of kindness, acceptance and celebrating diversity. These assemblies help our children to understand that everyone belongs and that our school is a welcoming, safe and respectful place for all.

Tuesday – Singing Assembly

Our Singing Assembly provides children with the opportunity to come together through music and song. Group choral singing supports children’s confidence, teamwork, listening skills and sense of belonging within the school community. The songs chosen often explore themes such as friendship, perseverance, hope, respect and celebration, helping children to reflect on important messages whilst experiencing the joy and unity that singing together brings.

Wednesday – Picture News Assembly

On Wednesdays, children take part in our Picture News Assembly. Picture News introduces children to current events and important issues happening around the world in an age-appropriate and engaging way. Through discussion and reflection, children are encouraged to think critically, ask questions and develop an understanding of the wider world around them. These assemblies help to nurture curiosity, compassion and respect for others’ views whilst supporting children to become informed and responsible citizens.

Thursday – Class Showcase and Core Values Assemblies

Thursday assemblies alternate between our Class Showcase Assemblies and Core Values Assemblies. During showcase assemblies, families are warmly welcomed into school to celebrate and share the learning taking place across each year group. These opportunities help children to develop confidence, pride and presentation skills whilst strengthening the partnership between home and school. Our Core Values Assemblies explore important themes such as British Values, school values, wellbeing and personal development. These assemblies support children in understanding the importance of democracy, respect, tolerance, responsibility and positive citizenship, helping them to become thoughtful and active members of society.

Friday – Over and Above Assembly

Each Friday, we come together for our Over and Above Assembly, where we celebrate the achievements and successes of our Eaves children. Families are invited to join us as we recognise those children who have gone 'Over and Above' throughout the week, demonstrating our school values and expectations in exceptional ways. This special celebration encourages children to strive for excellence, recognise the achievements of others and take pride in their contributions to our school community.
