My Community, My Voice

At Eaves, our vision is for every child to feel heard, valued and empowered to make a difference. Through My Community, My Voice and our pupil leadership opportunities, children learn that their ideas matter and that leadership means listening, supporting others and taking responsibility. Our pupil leaders help shape school life, represent their classmates and strengthen our shared sense of belonging.

Our Democracy Week brings this vision to life. Children present their applications for leadership roles through speeches, posters, artwork or presentations, choosing a way to share their ideas confidently. Pupils across school then visit the Eaves Polling Station to cast their votes, experiencing democracy in action and learning about fairness, choice and respectful participation.

Our school values guide this work. Exploration encourages children to consider different perspectives and discover ways to improve their community. Authenticity helps them express their own ideas and lead with honesty. Vision inspires them to imagine positive change, while Encouragement builds the confidence to participate and support others. Through Synergy, pupils discover what we can achieve when we work together. These experiences put our ambition for Excellence in Everything into practice.

From our Junior Leadership Team and subject ambassadors to our wellbeing, safety and playtime teams, pupils have meaningful opportunities to contribute. By sharing ideas with school leaders, helping younger children and promoting inclusion, they develop communication, teamwork and confidence that will serve them beyond Eaves.

Finding our voices. Leading with kindness. Making a difference. The Eaves Way.

Charity Champions at Eaves

At Eaves, we bring democracy to life by giving every class the opportunity to vote for a local charity to champion throughout the year. Pupils will work together to generate ideas, plan activities and raise funds for their chosen cause, learning how their collective efforts can make a positive difference.

Rooted in our Eaves values, children explore the needs of their community (Exploration), support causes that matter to them (Authenticity) and imagine ways to help (Visionary). By encouraging one another (Encouraging) and working together (Synergy), they develop empathy, responsibility and teamwork. These experiences help pupils look beyond themselves, understand the challenges others face and recognise their role in building a caring, supportive community.

Watch this space for their fundraising ideas and ways in which you can help contribute to such worthy causes!

Harvest at Eaves

This week, our Year 5 and Year 6 children had the pleasure of visiting St. Nicholas’ Church, Sutton, for a Harvest celebration. They took offerings of food and hampers to support people in need within our local community.

The celebration provided a meaningful opportunity to reflect on gratitude, generosity and caring for others. Living out our Eaves ethos and our values of Encouraging and Synergy, children saw how coming together and sharing what we can helps make a positive difference beyond our school.

Willowbrook Assembly

We were delighted to welcome Willowbrook Hospice to Eaves for a whole-school assembly introducing children to the charity’s valuable work. Willowbrook provides free, specialist care for adults with life-limiting illnesses across St Helens and Knowsley, offering comfort and support to patients and their families.

Learning about a local charity helps children look beyond their own experiences and recognise the importance of kindness, compassion and caring for others. Rooted in our Eaves values of Encouraging and Synergy, the assembly offered an opportunity to consider how communities work together and how fundraising, volunteering and small acts of generosity can make a meaningful difference.
