British Values
British Values at Eaves Primary School
The Department for Education expects all schools to actively promote the fundamental British Values of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty, and mutual respect and tolerance for those with different faiths and beliefs.
At Eaves Primary School, our ethos and values underpin everything we do. We provide a curriculum and school environment that give children meaningful opportunities to explore, understand, and demonstrate these values.
Our aim is to help every pupil become a responsible, confident, and respectful member of society, prepared for life in modern Britain.
The British Values are:
Democracy
We help children understand how decisions are made and the importance of having a voice. Pupils learn about democratic processes, how to express their views respectfully, and how to participate in decision-making, both in school and beyond.
Rule of Law
Children are taught the importance of rules and laws in keeping society safe and fair. They learn that there are consequences for breaking rules and understand the role of institutions such as the police and courts in maintaining order.
Individual Liberty
We encourage children to make choices, develop their independence, and express their ideas, while understanding the boundaries of rules and respecting the freedoms of others. Pupils learn how to exercise their rights responsibly and consider the impact of their actions.
Mutual Respect
Respect for others is central to life at Eaves. Children are supported to appreciate diversity, understand different perspectives, and show respect for people of all faiths, beliefs, and backgrounds.
Tolerance of Different Faiths and Beliefs
We aim to foster an inclusive environment where everyone feels valued and understood. Children learn to understand and show tolerance for people of all faiths, beliefs, and backgrounds.
