Sustainability and Climate Action
Caring for Our School, Our Community and Our Planet
At Eaves Primary School, we believe that everyone has a part to play in protecting our planet and creating a more sustainable future. We are committed to helping our children develop an understanding of the environment, the challenges facing our world and the positive difference they can make through their everyday actions.
Sustainability is an important part of our school ethos. Through our curriculum, enrichment opportunities and wider school experiences, we aim to inspire our children to become responsible, thoughtful and environmentally aware citizens.
Our Commitment to Sustainability
In line with the Department for Education's Sustainability and Climate Change Strategy, we are working to embed sustainability across school life, focusing on four key areas:
Climate Education and Green Careers – Developing children's knowledge of climate change, sustainability and the importance of protecting our natural world.
Biodiversity – Encouraging children to care for wildlife, plants and green spaces within our school grounds and local community.
Decarbonisation – Exploring ways to reduce waste, conserve energy and make environmentally responsible choices.
Adaptation and Resilience – Considering how we can prepare our school environment for the changing climate and promote a safe, sustainable future.
Learning Through Experience
We believe children learn best when they have opportunities to explore, investigate and make a difference.
Through our curriculum and enrichment programme, children take part in activities that promote environmental awareness and encourage them to become active participants in protecting our planet.
Our recent Planet Protectors and In the Wild workshops, delivered by Knowsley Safari Park, provided exciting opportunities for children to explore conservation, wildlife and the importance of caring for our natural environment.
Making a Difference Together
We recognise that small actions can make a big difference. By working together with our children, families, staff and wider community, we aim to develop positive habits that contribute to a more sustainable future.
As we continue to develop our sustainability journey, we look forward to celebrating our achievements, sharing our progress and involving our children in shaping a greener future for Eaves.
Together, we can make a difference – for today and for future generations.
