Welcome to Eaves Primary School

A very warm welcome to all of our new Reception children and families joining us at Eaves Primary School.

We are delighted that you will be becoming part of our Eaves family and we are looking forward to getting to know you over the coming months. Starting school is a very special milestone and we are committed to making your child’s transition into Reception happy, smooth and exciting.

At Eaves Primary School, we pride ourselves on creating a nurturing, caring and inspiring environment where children feel safe, valued and ready to learn. We cannot wait to watch your child grow in confidence, develop new friendships and flourish throughout their journey with us.

This page has been created especially for our new Reception families and will provide important information, updates and guidance to help prepare your child for starting school.

Welcome Meeting

We are very much looking forward to welcoming parents and carers to our Reception Welcome Meeting.

This is a wonderful opportunity to meet the Reception team, members of the senior leadership team and key staff who will support your child throughout their first year at school. During the meeting, we will share important information about starting Reception, explain the transition process and outline what your child’s first few weeks at school will look like.

There will also be time for parents and carers to ask any questions and find out more about life at Eaves Primary School.

Meet and Greet Sessions

To help your child feel confident and familiar with their new school environment, we will be holding individual Meet and Greet sessions across the following dates:

Wednesday 1st July 2026

Thursday 2nd July 2026

Friday 3rd July 2026

During these sessions, your child will have the opportunity to visit the Reception classroom with you and spend time getting to know the Reception staff on a one-to-one basis.

At the Welcome Meeting, families will be allocated a time slot for their Meet and Greet session.

These sessions are a lovely opportunity for us to begin building positive relationships and to help your child feel excited and reassured about starting school.

Stay and Play Sessions

We are excited to welcome our new Reception children back into school for our Stay and Play sessions before they officially begin school.

Children will have the opportunity to explore the classroom, meet new friends and enjoy activities with the Reception staff in a relaxed and welcoming environment.

Sessions will take place on:

Tuesday 2nd September 2026

Wednesday 3rd September 2026

Children will attend either a morning or afternoon session. Further details and session times will be shared with families at the Welcome Meeting.

Starting School
