Our Learn in Class session on 19th June focused on reading for pleasure.

Thank you for joining us to learn in class on Monday 27th February.

Stockley Farm Friday 17th March 2017

We love to read. The book fair came to school on Monday 30th January.

We showed interest in different occupations by dressing up to celebrate Young Carers Awareness Day on 26th January.

What job do you want to do when you grow up? We learn't that there are 700,000 young carers across the UK who are caring for their sick or disabled mum, dad, brother or sister. Often it is difficult for these children to realise their dreams.

Learn in Class 9th January 2017

Learn in Class - October 2016 - Thank you to all the parents and grandparents who attended our 'learn in class session' this week.. see if you can spot yourself getting messy!

Our trip to Chester Lane Library - November 2016

We loved our visit to the library - it was great to see the children singing nursery rhymes and joining in with actions to a new story. The children were so inspired that when we came back to school our reading area was full!!

Thank you to all the grown ups who came with us - we hope you enjoyed it just as much as we did :)

We are so proud of how quickly the children have settled into FS2. They have made lots of new friends and have enjoyed making and sharing experiences together. The children loved meeting their new Year 6 buddies and have had lots of fun at lunch time with them.

We have had our very first PE session which was so exciting - we loved showing off our moves.. take a look at our pictures.

FS2 are having a fantastic time and we can't wait to learn new things together!

Bingo! - September 2016

We are getting so good at recognising sounds now and we are trying hard to find character names and read these. This week we loved playing sound bingo with our friends! We certainly have a competitive streak in FS2!

RSPB Nature Workshop - October 2016

We had such a special afternoon on Thursday this week, we went on a hunt for bugs and wildlife outside. The children had a fantastic time looking for creatures and being so gentle when they found them! They worked well in their teams to tick off different things that they saw and enjoyed stamping on the ground to trick the worms!

Getting Messy! - October 2016

After reading the story "The Toy's Party, FS2 had their own toys party. We even made a cake just like Kipper. We followed the instructions to add in jam, cornflakes, sugar, tomato sauce and beans! Lots of us got our hands messy mixing the mixture and some of us even wanted to eat it! Don't worry, we didn't!

A Good Trick - October 2016

We have had lots of fun with the Oxford Reading Tree books and loved reading 'A Good Trick'. This inspired us to become magicians and play good tricks on our friends....

"Ladies and Gentlemen welcome to the show... I wonder what is underneath the blanket..."

What happens at Autumn? - October/November 2016

We have been looking at Autumn and how it moves into Winter. We have enjoyed learning about the different things that take place in our environment such as the leaves turning brown and orange and falling off the trees. We decided to go on an Autumn hunt to see what we could find... I think the best bit was collecting conkers!

Something Different - November 2016

We had such a fun time playing in the multi skills competition with Year 1.. we had lots of team challenges. We loved showing off our physical skills.. look at us go!

Meet our class bears Tim and Kim. Each week two children will take Tim and Kim home.

In FS2 children learn through the Foundation Stage Framework consisting of 7 areas of learning: Personal, Social and Emotional Development, Physical Development, Communication and Language, Literacy, Mathematics, Understanding the World and Expressive Arts and Design.

Each day the children have designated activity times in which they will come together in smaller groups and access a different area of learning through a variety of activities. The children also take part in small group activities each week which are also linked to the areas of learning. The children take part in daily mathematics, literacy and phonics sessions to develop their understanding of number, shape, space and measure, reading, writing, letters and sounds.

Each day the children access both indoor and outdoor continuous provision which allows the children to choose different activities which aim to further enhance and develop their skills.

Through continuous provision, group time and focus activities, we aim to support the children in their learning and development. Continuous observations are made of the children to establish their level of development and track their progress. Practitioners in FS2 use observations, photographs and children's work as evidence of each child's learning and development which is tracked through their learning journey files. The aim in FS2 is to support children by enhancing and scaffolding their learning and play, watching them as they learn new skills and flourish.

At Eaves, we invite parents to contribute to their child’s learning and development and cannot encourage you enough to be a part of their learning process.

Don't forget to send in any photo's or observation sheets in to us at any time! You can also email these to our new email address.

FS2's home learning book and newsletter goes home on a Friday and is due back the following Wednesday.

Below are some websites that you might choose to use to help your child consolidate learning at home. These are interactive gaming websites that support your child with mathematics and phonics. The children also access these sites in class.
